Biography

Dear Parents and Students,

I want to welcome you to the third grade at Fred Moodry Intermediate School! I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I am excited to have your child in my class this year.

First, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a graduate of Anaconda Senior High School, class of 1986.  I received my B.S. degree in Paralegal Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice from the College of Great Falls, and a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montana ~ Western.  I also obtained my special education endorsement, and my master's degree. I have been teaching in the Anaconda school district for 16 years.  Most of my teaching experience has been in third grade, however, I taught for 7 years in grades six, seven and eight, teaching special education for math and English.  I enjoy reading, golf, horseback riding, skiing, going for walks and watching Brennan in the sports he participates in.

I have been married to my husband Ken for 24 years. He is a Golf Course Superintendent at the Anaconda Country Club.  We have three children, McKenah, Ethan and Brennan, a Border Collie named Cooper and a cat named Harvey.  We also have five horses. McKenah will finish up her bachelor's degree in nursing at Montana State University in the spring. Ethan works full time at Montana Resources in Butte. Brennan is a tenth grader at Anaconda JR/SR High School, who plays football, basketball and pole volts in track. I can't believe how fast my children have grown and I am very proud of them.

My philosophy of teaching is to treat my classroom as a home and the class as my extended family.  I try to make each child feel welcome, accepted and excited about learning.  I feel very strongly about keeping the lines of communication open between home and school.  I hope you will communicate any joys and concerns with me too, so I can make your child's experience the best it can be this year.  The best way to reach me is though email, (ablume@anacondaschools.org)  If it is something private, please ask me to call you so we can talk on the phone. I look forward to meeting you all and thanks for sharing your child with me this year. .

Sincerely,
Amy Blume
